A judge has determined that your Denver Broncos are formally freed from their stadium naming rights agreement with Sports Authority. The sporting goods retailer was the second company that the Broncos’ stadium was named after and the second to wind up bankrupt.
When it comes to naming rights it’s time for the Broncos to do what’s right and return the title of the stadium to the fans who funded its construction to begin with.
The place where the blue and orange play should either be once again known as “Mile High Stadium” or perhaps better yet “Pat Bowlen Stadium”.
Mr Bowlen probably isn’t long for this world. What greater tribute could there be to a man that has brought Denver not one, not two, but three Super Bowl championships than to name the stadium after him?
Pat Bowlen means more to this city than some faceless corporation. The millions in naming rights revenue the team can generate also pale by comparison to his influence.
