This week in “Click Baiting” – The Denver Post’s Adrian Dater and Mike Chambers

Folks, are we really that desperate to get people to click on articles that we’d go that route? Apparently so.”

Steve Downie could be less than 100 percent heading into Avs camp” is a tweet sent out by both of the Denver Post’s Avs writers, Adrian Dater and Mike Chambers. Sounds legit right? Kind of concerning? Downie blew out his knee very early into last season and has been rehabbing ever since. Could Downie, after all that time, still be unprepared to start the season? You’d think Downie would be completely healed considering when the injury happened, so any Avs fan with the same concern would want to find out.You never know with this kind of thing so myself and probably most Avs fans clicked on the story to see why.

Well, it was a bit of a bait and switch by those crafty Post writers. While they haven’t been officially told Downie is 100% healthy, they have heard “he’s ready to go.” That sounds a bit different from the click baiting headline of “Steve Downie could be less than 100 percent heading into Avs camp.” Untrue? No, but kind of a shady way to get someone to click.

Folks, are we really that desperate to get people to click on articles that we’d go that route? Apparently so.
