The shitty cars of Englewood #7. 1976 Pontiac Sunbird Coupe
Welcome to the Shitty Cars of Englewood #7
Within only blocks of the concrete bunker we find some of the junkiest jalopies in all of Colorado. It’s not like us to keep this bounty to ourselves. Oh, no. We want to share it with you, our loyal readers.
Today were thrilled to discover this Sunbird – the epitome of a mid-1970’s economy sport coupe – in such fabulously shitty condition. This gem represents perfectly the kind of autos that help give the City of Englewood its distinct feel.
While this Sunbird might currently be suffering a flattened front tire, it’s plain to see that, when it’s road-worthy, it’s an asphalt scorcher. Otherwise it would not require a custom home-made hood scoop. One was fashioned for this beast in order to insure that enough air can be ingested for proper combustion. Another indication that it is capable of attaining blinding speeds is the Sunbirds aerodynamic sports mirrors, which were designed to slice through the air cleanly.
Aggressive dual-square headlamps grace either side of the cars front, along with twin plastic sport grills. The left grill is adorned with the Sunbird insignia, as are both front fenders. Nifty 4-spoke “mag” style factory wheels make the Sunbird look as though it’s going 100 miles per hour just sitting still.
The owner of this Sunbird knows that he is possession of a true classic. That’s why he has registered it with Collector’s plates. Heads are sure to turn once he gets that tire replaced and puts this classic back on the streets!
