Speculation Saturday: Wild Broncos rumors are making the rounds
Responsible journalism involves checking facts, checking facts again, vetting sources and materials and insuring than every duck is tidily arranged prior to publishing stories in order to insure that you’re never caught with your hand in the cookie jar of speculation. Thank goodness we’re not responsible journalists.
Two entertaining rumors are making the digital rounds this fine Saturday morning.
One is that former Colts outside linebacker Dwight Freeney, a free agent, was spotted in the crowd at Pepsi Center last night. This unconfirmed, unsubstantiated supposed appearance was bandied about Twitter. It would not be shocking to learn that Freeney was in Denver for a recruiting trip.
What would be shocking is if the other rumor being tossed about today were true. Various whispers have Elvis Dumervil and a first round pick being swapped to the New York Jets for Darrelle Revis. Both local and national sources report that the Broncos have serious interest in Revis.
What’s most tantalizing is that the two rumors could tie together. One linebacker out, one linebacker in. The greatest “lock-down” corner in the NFL in the orange and blue. Stay tuned, South Standers.
