Our week eight NFL picks VS the spread with guest picker, @PeterBurnsRadio

Colin D. | October 26, 2012

Another week – another round in the South Stands Denver Annual NFL pickoff VS the Spread.

This week our pickers, Colin (52-47-4), John (47-52-4), Producer Scott Stafford (45-54-4) and Snyder (50-49-4) welcome Peter Burns from Mile High Sports Radio as guest picker.

The fellows have had an up and down season, but our guest pickers have fared far worse. Brandon Spano, our guest picker from week 7, performed well, however, going 9-2-2 against the spread and taking second place behind Snyder for the week.

We will see if Burns can continue to improve upon the guest picker spot.

Our picks after the jump.

Tampa Bay @ Minnesota (-6.5)
The Buccaneers take their show on the road this week to visit the mighty Minnesota Vikings who are putting together a decent little season despite the struggles on one Christian Ponder. They’re likely a favorite on the strength of their ferocious defense.
Colin’s pick: Tampa Bay +6.5
Reidy’s pick: Tampa Bay +6.5
Snyder’s pick: Tampa Bay +6.5
Scott’s pick: Minnesota -6.5
Peter’s pick: Minnesota -6.5
St Louis VS New England (-7)
The New England Patriots make their rather ironic trip into Jolly Old England this week for a clash with the St Louis Rams, who are technically the “home team” for this one.
Colin’s pick: New England -7
Reidy’s pick: New England -7
Snyder’s pick: New England -7
Scott’s pick: New England -7
Peter’s pick: New England -7
Indianapolis @ Tennessee (-3.5)
The Titans haven’t missed a beat with Jake Locker on the bench. Even Chris Johnson is suddenly playing well for the Tennessee offense. Andrew Luck will have a chance to expose their horrible defense, though, when he brings his Colts to town.
Colin’s pick: Tennessee -3.5
Reidy’s pick: Indianapolis +3.5
Snyder’s pick: Indianapolis +3.5
Scott’s pick: Tennessee -3.5
Peter’s pick: Indianapolis +3.5
Jacksonville @ Green Bay (-16)
Q) What do you get when the worst team in all of football loses its QB and it’s MJD in the same week then heads into Lambeau Field to face the Packers?
A) the biggest line of the NFL season. The University of Colorado thinks the Jags are huge underdogs here.
Colin’s pick: Green Bay -16
Reidy’s pick: Green Bay -16
Snyder’s pick: Green Bay -16
Scott’s pick: Green Bay -16
Peter’s pick: Green Bay -16
Cleveland VS San Diego (-2.5)
Oh, look. The Chargers are a favorite on the road. If the Browns are lucky, San Diego will open up a 24-0 lead in this one. LOL! SUCK IT, CHARGERS!
Colin’s pick: Cleveland +2.5
Reidy’s pick: San Diego -2.5
Snyder’s pick: San Diego -2.5
Scott’s pick: San Diego -2.5
Peter’s pick: San Diego -2.5
Atlanta @ Philadelphia (-2.5)
Both of these NFL teams are coming off their bye. This should be a good game – and it’s a crucial one for the Eagles who have an opportunity to prove they still belong in the playoff conversation. Mike Vick faces the team that drafted him back before all that dog fighting stuff.
Colin’s pick: Philadelphia -2.5
Reidy’s pick: Atlanta +2.5
Snyder’s pick: Atlanta +2.5
Scott’s pick: Philadelphia -2.5
Peter’s pick:  Atlanta +2.5
Seattle @ Detroit (-2)
The Lions are a slight home favorite even after their pitiful performance on Monday night. Can the scrape themselves up off the mat and show some “pride” (get it) versus the SeaChickens?
Colin’s pick: Detroit -2
Reidy’s pick: Seattle +2
Snyder’s pick: Detroit -2
Scott’s pick: Seattle +2
Peter’s pick: Detroit -2

Miami @ NY Jets (-2.5)
There’s no room to wiggle in the tight AFC East. Every division match up will be a critical one from here on out. The Jets played the Patriots tough – they always do. But will they let down against Ryan Tannehill and the ’Phins?
Colin’s pick: NY Jets -2.5
Reidy’s pick: Miami +2.5
Snyder’s pick: NY Jets -2.5
Scott’s pick: NY Jets -2.5
Peter’s pick: NY Jets -2.5
Carolina @ Chicago (-7.5)
You’ve heard the comparisons all week. Is Cam Newton like Jay Cutler? Well, Newton may be acting like a baby some more this week if the Bears defense treats the Panthers the way it treated the Lions on Monday Night. The Bears are big favorites in this one for a reason.
Colin’s pick: Chicago -7.5
Reidy’s pick: Chicago -7.5
Snyder’s pick: Chicago -7.5
Scott’s pick: Chicago -7.5
Peter’s pick: Chicago -7.5
Washington @ Pittsburgh (-4.5)
The Steelers welcome the RGIII show to town this week. Washington has looked very, very good this season – even in losses. The Steelers need this one, though, to keep pace in the AFC North.
Colin’s pick: Washington +4.5
Reidy’s pick: Washington +4.5
Snyder’s pick: Pittsburgh -4.5
Scott’s pick: Washington +4.5
Peter’s pick: Washington +4.5
Oakland @ Kansas City (-2)
Will Chiefs fan boo when Quinn gets hurt, too?
Colin’s pick: Oakland +2
Reidy’s pick: Oakland +2
Snyder’s pick: Kansas City -2
Scott’s pick: Oakland +2
Peter’s pick: Kansas City -2
Dallas VS NY  Giants (-2)
Ouch. The Cowboys have slid so far that they’re home dogs to their division rivals, the Giants. This is a monster game for the ‘Boys in the house that Jerry built. Can they look like stars?
Colin’s pick: Dallas +2
Reidy’s pick: Giants -2
Snyder’s pick: Giants -2
Scott’s pick: Giants -2
Peter’s pick: Giants -2
New Orleans @ Denver (-6)
Expect a high scoring affair as the Saints and Drew Brees pay a visit to Denver to see what Peyton Manning’s got left. It should be raining footballs in this one.
Colin’s pick: New Orleans +6
Reidy’s pick: New Orleans +6
Snyder’s pick: Denver -6
Scott’s pick: Denver -6
Peter’s pick: Denver -6
Arizona VS San Francisco (-6.5)
The Cardinals game out of the gates 4-0 this season and it’s been all down hill for them since. They host the ‘Niners on Monday Night and are huge dogs. Will the National TV cameras be enough to inspire AZ’s O-line to keep Skelton upright?
Colin’s pick: San Francisco -6.5
Reidy’s pick: San Francisco -6.5
Snyder’s pick: Arizona +6.5
Scott’s pick: San Francisco -6.5
Peter’s pick: San Francisco -6.5
