Tim Tebow is a great athlete and good football player. But his is just a man, and just like me, he levitates into his pants one leg at a time.
Actually I have nothing against Tebow. I am a big BIG Broncos fan and very happy with Tebow’s playing overall (there are some things he needs to work on).
My statement really is for all the worshipers AND haters. I don’t understand the absolute HATE and I don’t understand some people making him out to be something sooooo utterly fantastic. Even when he was still in high school, he was over hyped. While he was not apparently annoyed by the coverage and cameras, I have not, in any of the film or interviews I have seen of him, seen him act like some of the MANY many other prima donnas in the sports/entertainment/art/political world. I am not too keen on his statements before EVERY time he talks to the press, we get it, you love Jesus. But hey, he can do what he want if he continues to win games.
I don’t think he is into whores and coke, and I don’t think he is hiding anything. I do think he is into his faith, and he is allowed, by the Constitution, just as much as I am allowed not, to be into belief of Middle Eastern nomadic religions. I prefer Pacific islander belief systems myself, but I don’t go around prothletising all the time about it (sacrificing virgins into volcanoes is kinda frowned upon). He is also not similar to the Pharisee in Luke 18:9-14 in his display of prayer.
But folks, CHILL OUT! Anti Sports folks, CHILL OUT! Anti Christians, Chill Out!!! Evangelicals, hold your horses! NFL network, put the brakes on! ESPN Chill Out! The local news doesn’t even make that big of a deal about him as much as people from around the rest of the US do. We actually make fun of the over abundance of Tebow worship/hate on the Lame Stream Media (see what I did there?). So he bows on the side of the field, get over it. Other players have done it before him and they will do it long after Tebow. Let’s get those singers/songwriters/producers/actors to stop it at the multiple ego pumping award shows they have all year round.
All the guy wants to do is play football. He never has asked anyone to convert, follow or otherwise to his religion. He lives in his faith, and though sometimes it is hard for us to understand him being proud of his faith, he has the freedom of speech like any citizen of the US. CHILL OUT, he is just a man that people other than himself have made into something more than he is. GO BRONCOS!!!
