Orange Colored Glasses: I can offer no perspective on the Broncos whatsoever.

“All I can say is “wow”.”

I don’t know what to write. I can offer no perspective on the Broncos whatsoever. What am I supposed to say about the team that seems to have figured it all out? What can I write that hasn’t been written about a quarterback who is supposed to be in the absolute twilight of his career, who is coming off multiple neck surgeries, who is presumably still adjusting to a new team, who fills the air with touchdown throws? What opining is to be done about a set of offensive weapons the likes of which we have never seen? What insights should I have about the most surprising defense in the NFL?

All I can say is “wow”.

I’m just glad to be a part of this. We are all watching something extraordinary happen and I doubt that very many of us really know what to say. It’s not at all ridiculous for the “undefeated” talk to begin. In fact it began last week. The Broncos absolutely look unstoppable and, aside from the Seahawks, it’s tough to think of any team that could even slow them down. There is not a single tilt on their schedule that they should not be big favorites to win, especially now that San Diego has beaten Dallas and the Patriots can’t seem to get healthy.

Are we in the midst of watching the greatest Denver Broncos season of all time? That’s become less a possibility and more a likely hood. John Elway never had it this good. He never scored fifty-two. And the Broncos defenses of the Super Bowl era were never this elusive. Let’s not forget the special teams. The Broncos can score from pretty much anywhere inside mid-field and Trindon Holliday gives them just what they need to completely deflate an opponent’s spirit.

Denver’s 4-0 record has been built by Peyton Manning but so many other factors point to even greater success moving forward. Before their bye week they’ll face the Cowboys, Colts, Jags, and Redskins. They’ll destroy them all. The Broncos will be 8-0 by the time they rest and will have been the biggest favorites (versus Jacksonville) in terms of point spread in the history of the game. They’ll emerge to face the Chargers on the road and Chiefs at home before finally playing a team some people still think can give them a game – the New England Patriots.

Those fat, arrogant old 1972 Dolphins are certainly begin to fear that they have tilted their last champagne glasses and lit their last cigars. They must realize what we’re all starting to realize – that, like the Colorado floods of 2013, the Broncos of 2013 are something that only come around once in most lifetimes. I can’t offer any perspective on these Denver Broncos other that to say that seeing them finally shut those old men up would be the greatest thing imaginable.
