Nuggets offer JaVale far, far more that he’s probably worth. He’s thinking about it.
It’s NBA free-agent signing season.
Rather than pursuing any of the talented outsiders that are bouncing around the Association this off-season, your Denver Nuggets are focused in on resigning their own restricted free-agent center and Twitter celebrity, JaVale McGee.
The team brought in the inconsistant center via a trade with Washington that finally rid them of the Charmin-soft Nene Hilario who Josh Kroenke and Masai Ujiri finally figured would never, ever work out. Now they are counting on McGee, the league’s uncontested King of Goofy, to carry them into the future at the Center position. Sadly, Centers get paid a fortune in the NBA.
The Nuggets have reportedly offered McGee a five year, 50M deal. For those of you a little slow at math, that’s 10M per year – which will rendor him un-tradeable if he does not improve his game. In other words, he could be the Nuggets next Kenyon Martin.
Of course, McGee isn’t impressed – or, if he is – he isn’t letting on. He’s playing a little game of hard to get. It’s amuzing, really. He and his agent would love for everyone to get the impression that there’s oodles of interest in him – but there’s not.
