Morning radio dudes celebrate the Rockies “Road to 100 losses”

Colin D. | May 22, 2012

When the Rockies hand you lemons why the heck wouldn’t you make lemonade?

That’s exactly what the hosts of the Mile High Club on Mile High Sports Radio have decided to do.

Drink up.

The Colorado Rockies have never looked as hopelessly inept as they do this season.

Even in their formative years the Rockies had a better winning percentage. They are 15 and 26 (.366) and possess the third worst record in all of baseball. Only two teams in the Great Lakes region, the Twins and the Cubs, can boast of worse numbers. Colorado has coughed up 15 of its last 19 games and is the midst of an historic slide that has fans scratching their heads.

Peter Burns, Mark Kiszla and Eric Goodman of the Mile High Club (mornings 6-9 on MIle HIgh Sports Radio AM1510 / FM93.7) have stumbled onto a way of enjoying the Rockies season despite the struggles – by rooting for the Rockies to lose 100 games in 2012.
They are calling their approach “the Road to 100 Losses” and are updating the team’s pursuit of the nefarious goal each morning.

The trio whoops and hollers over the same music track that Six Fags amuzement parks use in their commercials whilst describing the Rockies most recent disasterous outcome. They celebrate each implosion as though it were a Broncos playoff victory.

It’s really fun. Listeners find themselves hoping the Rockies will flounder just so they can look forward to hearing the morning hosts ratlle on about it.

Burns is petitioning the show’s sponsors to jump on board with the promotion and offer shoppers special deals when the Rockies lose.
