Since New York Jets other quarterback Geno Smith, is already in possession the No. 7 jersey, the new guy in town Michael Vick, has been forced to select a new number for the first time since before his high school playing days.
Vick has chosen to don the No. 8, in an apparent nod to NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young. Vick announced his new number on instagram saying, ” I want to see everybody in there MV8 jerseys this year. I appreciate all the fans that helped. Fresh Start…new me! #JetsNation #GangGreen #V8.” (As a writer and grammar Nazi that “there” is killing me, but I had to quote it directly)
For Vick’s sake, I sure hope this new number and fresh beginning will be a positive one for the controversial quarterback.
Unless that No. 8 jersey gives him the super human power of non-injury, I have my doubts.
