Meanwhile, the Nuggets won big, too … behind JaVale
While Denver fans were basking in the glow of a huge road win for the Broncos, the Nuggets were in the process of slapping around the Sacramento Kings for the fifth straight time. Like the Broncos did in Baltimore, the Nuggets won big, 122-97, improving their record and earning cheap tacos for their faithful.
They did it the George Karl way … six players in double figures, Lawson, Gallinari, Koufos, Hamilton, Igoudala and JaVale McGee. McGee’s 19 points led the squad. He also contributed three blocked shots and five rebounds in his 17 minutes. Not too shabby for a guy who’s play can range from jaw-droppingly good to just jaw-dropping.
The Nuggets seem to be turning the corner, and a much friendlier schedule awaits them in the coming weeks. We will have to wait and see whether they can crawl out of the hole they have dug in the division. Indications are that they can – and that’s a good thing because football season won’t last forever.
