Landeskog needs a new nickname to go with his seven year extension
“You take a shortened version of the person’s last name, add a “y” or a “er” and presto, instant hockey nickname. But I think Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog deserves a better moniker since he was recently signed to a seven year, $39 million extension.”
“Landy” is pretty lame yet typical nickname for a hockey player. You take a shortened version of the person’s last name, add a “y” or a “er” and presto, instant hockey nickname. But I think Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog deserves a better moniker since he was recently signed to a seven year, $39 million extension.
Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you FROST HAMMER.
Landeskog is Swedish and Frost Hammer invokes all sorts of Nordic imagery: frost giants, vikings and smiting enemies. Now Landeskog will be smiting enemies for years to come in an Avalanche sweater. And, there’s also this song by High on Fire entitled “Frost Hammer.”
While a handsome chap, Landeskog’s nasty, warrior-like hockey skills are only going to improve as he helps the Avs conquer all of their foes – invading and setting fire to arenas around the US and Canada. Avs fans, you’ve got your captain locked in for seven years, let’s give him a nickname worthy of his skills and dedication.
