Apparently all that stands between Kenyon Martin and a stint with the LA Clippers is a physical examination.
After being a max-contract wart on the Denver Nuggets for most of his six years with them, Martin dodged what he perceived to a likely NBA lockout by fleeing to China like JR Smith. Unlike Smith, however, Kenyon was granted his release by the Chinese Basketball Association. And now he’s back. And he’s a free-agent.
According to the Times, Martin “is expected to bolster the Clippers’ inside strength and rebounding performance.”
No doubt they could have used him last night.
The addition of K-Mart will only intensify what is shaping up to be a bitter rivalry between the Clips and the Nugs.
Kenyon joins the King of Park Hill, Chauncey Billups, in helping the Clippers shake the moniker of LA’s “other” NBA team.
The Clippers, the Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder make up a trio of up and coming teams that represent a significant shift in power within the Western Conference.
