January is definitely over for the Nuggets
2013 began with a magical month for your Denver Nuggets. January was one of their most successful months ever. Sadly, February is off to a somewhat predictable start. A road trip on which the Blue and Yellow went 1-3 has left a sour taste in the mouths of the faithful.
What’s most hard to swallow is that it could have been so much better. The Celtics game, which went to three overtimes, could easily have been a win. The Raptors and Nets games could have turned out differently, too, had George Karl not decided to rest players. Forget the trumped up injuries, head colds, hang-nails and whatever else was sold as the reasons for the omissions, guys were given breaks. It’s as simple as that.
Suddenly the Clippers and the 3rd seed seem unreachable. Suddenly there’s division in the locker room, complaints about minutes and general unrest. The bubble has burst. The Nuggets are ordinary again. At 33-21 they’re hardly better than Utah. Memphis has a better winning percentage and Houston and Golden State are nipping at their heels. Was this trip important? You had better believe it.
