In honor of the 12th man
Welp. When you’re beaten you’re beaten and it’s best to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and admit it and to give some credit to whomever won.
The Seahawks man handled the Broncos. That’s well documented by now. But Seattle’s fans made one heck of a showing, too – last night and all season long. The “12th man” deserves to be praised and admired as one of the best fan bases in pro sports – if not the very best.
They even support the MLS in Seattle. In droves.
This is no slight on Broncos Country. We’re wonderful. This is just recognizing that Seattle fans do it right. By all reports they outnumbered Broncos fans in the stands at MetLife and even if they didn’t the ones that were there were louder than we were. Ask Peyton Manning.
Seattle fans lost the Sonics in what was perhaps the most tragic relocation in sports history. Today they can forget about that. Today their Seahawks are world champions and today the twelfth man deserves to feel part of their success.
You will not find a more unique and dedicated fan base anywhere in America. My broncos sideline cap is tipped to the Twelfth Man. Congratulations.
