I’m still pissed at the Nuggets
When it comes to the Denver Nuggets enough is just about enough.

After having had a couple of days to cool my jets after the Denver Nuggets let yet another opportunity in the playoffs slip away I find myself still angry. I realize that some fans are pleased as punch that the Blue and Yellow managed to take the Lakers to a seventh game – but it’s not good enough for me. Not any more.
Ever since George Karl came to town this has been the story year after year. Yeah – the Nuggets are good enough to make the playoffs – but they aren’t ever good enough to make it to the finals. They’re the San Diego Chargers of the NBA.
Over the past several seasons I have spent thousands of dollars and countless hours following the team I love all the while knowing exactly how things would end for them. They’ll show signs of brilliance – give everyone a reason to be hopeful and crumble in the end. In that sense they are consistent as any team in the history of the league.
It’s going to happen next year, too. And the year after that if Karl’s still here.
I am to the point where I would almost return to the era of 17 wins. At least back then the Nuggets were a complete joke. I could root for them just to win a few regular season games and wear my gear with a tongue-in-cheek type of pride.
Now the Nuggets exist in NBA purgatory. They’re never quite a rebuilding team and they are never a legitimate contender.
I demand more.
James Merilatt wrote in todays Mile HIgh Sports Daily: “It’s time for the Nuggets, and everyone associated with them, to have championship aspirations. That needs to be the goal, with nothing short of reaching the pinnacle being acceptable.“
I agree. Masai Ujiri and Josh Kroenke need to step up and bring Denver an NBA Championship by any means neccesary. We deserve nothing less. If that means canning George Karl then that’s what is precisely what they must do. Karl is the one constant in the Nuggets reign of mediocrity.
I wonder if Karl limits the Nuggets’ ceiling. He’s obviously a very capable head coach and it is difficult to imagine who the team might bring in to replace him – but he has to take the blame for the fact that the Nuggets are always looking up at the premium teams in the West.
Enough is enough.
Enough nice tries. Enough getting close. Enough moral victories. Enough evolving. Get three guys to be the core of the Nuggets and demand that the rest play their roles.
I’m a pissed off Nuggets fan. I want more.
