The Kansas City Chiefs got off to an incredible start in 2013, winning their first nine games and looking for all the world like contenders. Their hotness was, of course, fraudulent. Kansas City benefited from facing a bunch of back up quarterbacks and opponents who were, for one reason or another, not at their best. The Chiefs still managed to make the playoffs but it was clear that they were the third best team in the AFC West.
They still are.
The flagging Chiefs, coming off a home loss to Tennessee, visit Denver today where not even their own fans can image their winning. They claim to be on a “business trip” but really their on a death march. It’s not really a question as to whether the Broncos will be victorious this afternoon. It’s only a matter of how and by how many points Denver is victorious.
Vegas says the Broncos are twelve point favorites. It’s a big number. Still, I think Denver will cover easily. All the Broncos need to do is control Jamaal Charles – and they will.
Denver will score something in the neighborhood of 35 points. Like in week one, they will sputter a bit late in the game (John Fox can’t seem to keep them on the gas) but they’ll have the game salted away safely by then. Kansas City will struggle to reach half that total. The talent gap between Denver and KC will be clear.
