Here’s your stupid Broncos / Colts prediction

“Manning may not be able to prove Iray’s words regarding Manning’s post-season record wrong in week seven, but he can make the old man wish he had never flapped his gums – and that’s precisely what he is going to do”

On Sunday evening, after the pre-game blah-blah-blahs and after the leggy country signer croons, the Denver Broncos will finally take the field at Lucas Oil Stadium to face the Indianapolis Colts, Peyton Manning’s original team, in one of the most anticipated NFL games of the season thus far. The chatter will at long last end and the athletes will perform. The quarterback will be the centers of attention and one will be the highlight of the action.

Peyton Manning will reward senile Colts owner Kim Irsay for his irresponsible comments with a quarterbacking exhibit for the ages. Number eighteen will not simply lead his team to a win and a 7-0 record, he will put on a performance that will ring through NFL lore for generations to come. The human highlight reel will remain on pace to smash NFL season-long passing records while involving all of his offensive weapons in a dismantling of the Colts defense. This regular season tilt will among the greatest games of Manning’s career.

Manning may not be able to prove Iray’s words regarding Manning’s post-season record wrong in week seven, but he can make the old man wish he had never flapped his gums – and that’s precisely what he is going to do.

Andrew Luck, who the Colts felt they had to draft after finishing dead last in the NFL two seasons ago, will look like what he is – a novice quarterback – when contrasted with Peyton Manning. The rejuvenated Broncos defense will insist on doing its part in leading the Broncos to victory, limiting Andrew Luck to under 250 yards of passing, one touchdown toss and two interceptions in a game that will never be close.

Manning will spread the field, hitting Welker, Decker, Thomas and Thomas in stride and completing short passes to his running backs on route to six passing touchdowns, just one short of his single-game record (which he set against the Ravens earlier this season). Knowshon Moreno will contribute a rushing TD as well, helping the Broncos to earn 48 offensive points. Matt Prater will tack on another three, giving the Broncos a total of 51 points.

The struggling Colts offense will muster one through the air (to Coby Fleener), one on the ground, and three field goals. Their total of 23 points will keep Indianapolis within thirty points of Denver … but barely.

The vast chasm that exists between the 2013 Denver Broncos and the current Colts will be as plain as the noses of Colts fans faces as they file out of the stadium wondering what happened and what might have been. For weeks in Indy sports radio jocks will argue whether the legendary quarterback who returned home to set fire to the house that he “built” ever should have been let go.

Final score: Broncos 51 Colts 23
