Our pal, AJ Niss, a veteran of the Fancast, has a few thoughts to share on David Stern’s rejection of the Chris Paul trade. Thanks for the submission, AJ. Remember, South Standers, we want to hear from YOU!
So Los Angeles Laker fans you had it all figured out didn’t ya? Another free ring from Kobe Bryant plus a superstar. Well, sorry fans. Not this year. Well, not yet anyway.
I was watching it all unfold on Twitter and ESPN. Chris Paul to the LA Lakers, part of a 3 team deal sending Lamar Kardashian, and Pau Gasol to the Hornets for draft picks and players from the Houston Rockets (Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic). If you were a New Orleans Hornets fan, you were smiling, as well and pissed at David Stern for blocking the deal.
As I, a Denver Nuggets fan, went through this with Carmelo Anthony. I’m thankful that we got something out of the deal and not letting Melo walk. Anyway back to CP3 why did Stern block the trade he was tired of seeing players dictate on where they want to go and then whine about it by not getting their way. Players need to learn that this is the NBA and not the NPA they don’t own this league the owners and fans do. When July 1st 2012 comes rolling around Chris Paul can go were ever he wishes he can go to LA or New York, or go play ball in China. For all I care, he can sit and wait till 2012 since he is a free agent.
So in that cause if I am the Hornets I’m begging Stern to reconsider and let this trade go down. The real reason why Chris Paul wanted to go to the Lakers was well one play with Kobe and play with another superstar center Dwight Howard. I have just learned per ESPN that Dwight Howard wants to go to the New Jersey Nets after he learned that this trade was blocked. Now if I am David Stern I would re-think this situation hard, give it over the weekend, just let this trade happen. It could turn out to be a great basketball move in the long run. Especially for the Hornets, they get 5 players 6 including the draft pick. I do have new found respect for David Stern for blocking the deal. But now re-think your decision for the small market fan, for the small market team, and let this trade go through. Yes, you may be surprised from me telling you this, a hardcore Denver Nuggets fan, but I am thinking for the small market fans, and the small market teams, let it go down Stern. Let it go down. Just think about the ratings you will have on that Christmas Day game Lakers vs. Bulls. Man its going to be a fun season. What did I tell you guys? The season hasn’t even started yet! It starts tomorrow, December 9th! Get yo pop corn ready! Peace out and GO NUGGETS!!! #bringbacksmooth
