Floundering Rox drop four straight, are still better than the World Champions
It’s all over but the shoutin’ for the 2013 Colorado Rockies. The team seems to be aware of it, too. They’re imploding and they know that nobody really cares all that much now that the Broncos are in camp.
The Rockies are eight games under .500 and ten games in the loss column behind the streaking Dodgers. Los Angeles was the pre-season favorite to take the NL West and, despite their slow start, that’s what they’re poised to do. Meanwhile, the Rockies are dangerously close to falling behind the woeful Padres and bellying up to fourth place in the division.
The only NL West team that the Rockies seem clearly better than happens to be the most recent MLB Champion. The San Francisco Giants won it all in 2012 but are bringing up the rear in the West this season. They’re even worse than the Rockies – at least for now.
It sucks being a Rockies fan these days but it’s got to be even rougher cheering on a team that won the World Series one year and can’t get out of its own way the next. So, Rox fans, suck it up. Allow yourselves to feel better simply by trying to imagine the disappointment fans are feeling in the City by the Bay.
