Drew Pomeranz will (finally) return for Rox
Finally.
The Rockies are bringing Drew Pomeranz back to the big club to fill the gap in the rotation left by the demotion of Alex White. He should be here as soon as Sunday (tomorrow).
Pomeranz was, of course, the centerpiece in the trade that sent Ubaldo Jimenez to the Indians. The swap also brought the guy Drew will be replacing, Alex White, to the Rox.
According to the excellent Rockies Blog, Purple Row, Pomeranz is:
“looking more and more like the guy we thought we were getting upon acquiring him from the Indians. He’s 4-4 with a 2.51 ERA in nine starts with Colorado Springs, with good groundball (1.56 GO/AO ratio) and strikeout (46 K in 46.2 IP) numbers”
The re-introduction of Pomeranz, along with the improvement Jeff Francis has shown and the fact that Bob Apodaca is finally friggin’ gone might mean that the Rockies’ horrific pitching will improve.
