Don’t look now, but the Rockies are on a roll
It doesn’t really seem like it, but your Colorado Rockies are 7-3 in June and, if they take the current series with Washington, they will have racked up five straight series wins or ties.
Despite playing uncomfortably close games against the Padres Colorado was able to escape with two out of four games in that home series after having gone on the road to topple the mighty Reds. Prior to that they beat the Dodgers and split with the Astros. They have very quietly moved five games above .500 and, at 35-30, are breathing down the necks of the division-leading Diamond Backs who are 36-29.
The Rockies are on a bit of a roll. It’s best not to recognize it, though. It seems like every time we notice them doing well they regress.
With talented youngsters coming up from Colorado Springs – guys like Arenato, Colvin and Chatwood – there’s no telling how much longer the bloom may be on the Rockies rose. July is approaching very quickly and this club still has us talking.
