Dear Mr. Kiszla…

I’m not sure what denying your often times clever tweets for something I didn’t do has taught me, but it seems a bit Rockies-esque. In short, you out-Alvesed Jay Alves. Congratulations on becoming what you hate most. “

Dear Mr. Kiszla,

You are either the biggest hypocrite to haunt the halls of the Denver Post or you must really like the way the Colorado Rockies treated some of your media cohorts this past year. Because you just did the same thing to me. The Rockies have shut out your Mile High Sports co-host Peter Burns on several occasions and your Post comrade Troy Renck was given the cold shoulder by the organization presumably because of critical columns written by you. Doesn’t sound fair that your peers should suffer because of your controversial opinion does it? And now because of something a colleague of mine wrote, I’ve been given the “Rockies treatment” by you.

I won’t spend the time re-hashing what my South Stands partner Colin Daniels did to incur your wrath. It’s very clear why you were upset by it and you had every right to bounce him from hosting your morning radio show. He – using a word you like to use – is a knucklehead who made a poor choice in his comfort level with you and an even poorer choice with his column.

But like the Rockies showing their displeasure with you by giving USA Today a tasty scoop instead of the venerable Troy Renck, you blocked me on Twitter and dragged my name through the mud like I wrote the piece myself. I didn’t. Ok, maybe I edited it, but just like how you wouldn’t tell Mike Klis what to write, I’m not in the business of censoring my South Stands partner. I’ve tried, he just won’t listen.

Frankly, I’m thrilled you even knew who I was to block me. But by going after me, you acted just like your nemesis: Rockies PR douche Jay Alves. I’m not sure what denying your often times clever tweets for something I didn’t do has taught me, but it seems a bit Rockies-esque. In short, you out-Alvesed Jay Alves. Congratulations on becoming what you hate most.

As I stated before, I understand why you didn’t want your name associated with such filth carelessly put out by Colin. But to lash out at me is not only baffling but exactly what your fellow media members are going through with the Rockies. You sir have made a good living being controversial and have garnered the reputation of being somewhat of a muckraker. Who got more clicks this Rockies season, you or Troy Renck? Everyone knows it was you because no one wanted to read good analysis of a crappy team: they wanted to read yet another warranted bare bottom spanking you usually give the Monforts and Dan O’Dowd. YOU have been controversial and others have paid the price. If you can’t see the delicious irony in this, you probably should go look up the word. Your picture is currently next to the definition.

I have a large amount of respect for your writing, your opinions and your radio work. I can live with the Twitter block and the fallout from Colin’s piece because of my association with the website. But what I can’t live with is you deciding to join hands with Jay Alves and skip down the road in punishing a somewhat innocent bystander. I’m not looking for an apology or a reinstatement in your good graces. But reading your Tweets again would be nice.
