In Adrian Dater’s All Things Avs blog today he rejoiced that Kyle Quincey talked mad shit about Colorado as soon as his plane arrived safely in Michigan.

“Hats off to Yahoo!”, Dater proclaimed to lead his piece; bubbling with hedonistic joy at the good fortune that had befallen him in the form of blissfully acidic quotations about the team he is paid to cover. 

A member of the same dark squadron that Michael Silver plays for, Yahoo Sports, coaxed the recently swapped Quincey into blasting his former team:

“Everyone is ready to get shipped out any day. There’s a lot of guys, their bags are packed beside the door, and they wouldn’t be unhappy to go – trust me. I know I had a big smile on my face, and all the guys were jealous. I think there’s a bunch of guys that were pissed off they weren’t in a package deal.”

What a dick! Kyle Quincey makes Brady Quinn look like Tim Tebow! 

But, too Dater it’s fucking awesome.

“First off, great quote from a newspaperman’s perspective. Now that’s some of the old stuff – ripping a team that traded you on the way out the door. In a large way, I respect that about Kyle Quincey.” Dater said.

It comes as no surprise that Adrian Dater would “respect” a guy for that quote. The title of his blog post is:

“Quincey throws Avs under the bus, then backs over for good measure”

Can you almost hear him cackling?

I swear to God the guy drinks goat blood like V8.

Of all of the beat writers that could have walked into an Avalanche fans life we get this one?

Regardless of whether or not the things Quincey said to Yahoo are completely and 100% true, he should not have said them. Aren’t there a thousand “codes” in hockey? I thought players were supposed to be the most gracious in all of sports.  Isn’t that what people love about them?

Quincey wasn’t finished.  Among other things he told reporter Nick Cotsonika:

“When there’s so much uncertainty if those guys are going to be there next year, it would be nice for guys to get extensions. But that’s their policy, and that’s what they do.”

Are you kidding me? Who does this guy think he is, Terrell Owens?

As nasty as Quincey has been about his departure, Dater is worse. A writer shouldn’t revel in distain for his own beat.

Dater makes a living doing it.
