Broncos have everything on the line

Colin D. | November 14, 2010

McDaniels was the one. A loss today and he’s done.

Today’s divisional clash with Kansas City at Invesco Field represents a pivitol moment in the history of the Denver Broncos organization.

Win and the Broncos are (kind of) back in the conversation in the AFC West.  Lose and they are doomed to finish dead last – behind the Raiders – behind the Chiefs.  That’s a fate worse than death for Josh McDaniels.

Chances are the boy coach will stick around for the 2011 season.  Pat Bowlen (or whoever holds power of attorney) is unlikely to add a third coaching salary in these tough econimoc times.  Mike Shanahan is still on the books and will be for another year.  McDaniels has a year left on his deal, too.

Still, if the Broncos drop another winnable game, fans won’t be able to wash the nasty taste of that Raiders blowout from their mouths.  The McDaniels death watch will begin for certain.
