Josh McDaniels, by all accounts was a dick. You can be a dick if you’re winning football games, but if things go as far south as they did in Broncos Country, and you’re not well liked, you won’t last long. I’m glad Ellis and Bowlen took most of the blame for the Josh McDaniels debacle because truly it is their fault. But don’t give me a sob story for McDaniels: he’s well paid and will be a head coach again inside of four years.
I liken it to a very lame and obnoxious girlfriend your buddy decides to date. Everyone hates her. She’s a total schmuck and you can’t wait until she’s out of your collective lives. And when you’re friend cuts her loose, you can’t help but celebrate. But do you punish your friend for having sullied your good times with her presence? Of course not. Well, maybe a little. He deserves all the grief and blame you can heap on him, but in the end, he’s your friend. And no matter how many hussies he trots out, you’re still going to be his friend. The Broncos are this friend and Josh McDaniels is the braying jackass of a girlfriend. Wave goodbye to Josh, heap some scorn onto Bowlen and let’s hope the next trollop he chooses to coach the Broncos doesn’t make you want to claw your eyes out.
