Is the Nuggets front office purposely trying to snuff out a late season run?

Your Denver Nuggets have won four games in a row. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? The way they were playing under Brian Shaw nobody thought that they would win four more games all season – much less go on a late-season run. But the team has responded well to Melvin Hunt and seems to be trying to play him onto consideration for the head coaching gig moving forward. But it seems like the front office isn’t too happy to see the team’s recent turn around.

The Denver Post’s Chris Dempsey Tweeted earlier that the decision to rest these players comes not from Melvin Hunt nor from the players themselves. That can only mean one thing – that they are tanking – and that’s exactly what Deadspin accused them of today.
It’s pretty disgusting. Every NBA fan understands that for teams to get better they need quality draft picks and that the earlier they can make selections the better the odds are that they will land them. But for an organization to purposely hamstring its club because it has been playing too well is just plain sleazy. It’s incredibly unfair to interim coach Melvin Hunt as well. Hunt deserves consideration for the permanent position and he has been proving himself night after night. If the Nuggets realize their goal of losing games it reflects poorly on Hunt.
Watching the Nuggets scratch and scrape and leave it all out on the floor over the past two weeks has been glorious. Fans deserve to see that effort. Now management had decided that enough is enough and that it’s time to get back to the business of losing.
