ESPN can’t resist ridiculous Manning narrative
Always on the lookout for a catchy headline, Chris Mortensen and the hacks at ESPN are never afraid to clutch onto a story line no matter how weak it is – especially if that story line relates to either the most recent former or current Broncos QB.
This time ESPN’s “narrative” is that Peyton Manning’s future may be in doubt as he will have an examination performed on his neck after the season.
It goes without saying, of course, that eighteen would have such an exam. Not only is it perfectly normal to do so in the wake of several neck surgeries, but it’s part of Manning’s contract. The Broncos will need to be assured that he is healthy enough to continue playing.
Today’s ESPN piece confesses this but follows with this obvious statement: “But if there is an increased risk of injury, Manning will be forced to decide whether to retire.”
No shit, Sherlock.
This “story” is no story at all – just an attempt by ESPN to generate traffic with a sensational story line.
