Dave Krieger’s “breakfast with George Karl” is the must-read interview of the year
Columnist Dave Krieger left the Denver Post for a full-time gig at KOA back in 2012. It’s hard to blame him, considering the shakiness in the news biz these days. He’s still writing, though. Krieger keeps his own WordPress site titled “Blitz Krieg” where he publishes one fantastic piece after another. Krieger is a hell of a columnist and he’s also a master interviewer. His talent for extracting interesting material from his subjects makes his blog one of the better reads out there when it comes to Denver sports. One interview subject topped them all, though. Krieger recently sat down for “breakfast with George Karl” and wound up penning an eye-opening piece based on the unfettered answers Karl gave to his questions.
There’s not much doubt that it was George’s time to go when he was canned in the wake of last season. Still, reading Krieger’s article makes it tough not to miss his forthrightness. In it Karl is brutally honest about the Nuggets then and now, Javale McGee, Andre Iguodala, ESPN and more. It’s the most insightful interview you’ll read all year.
