Our week seven NFL picks VS the spread
Last week Scott Stafford took the lead in our annual NFL pickoff VS the spread when Colin left the window open with a horrific performance. Reidy is quietly hovering near the front as well, while our Buddy Snyder crawls his way back from a dreadful start to the season.
It’s a big week in the NFL and a big week in our contest.
Here’s how the gents see things unfolding in week seven …

Arizona VS Seattle (-6.5)
The Seahawks are deadly at home, but have been less so on the road. They kick of the NFL week by visiting the desert southwest to face the Cardinals at their place. Carson Palmer and Co. are no real threat in the NFC, but they are no pushovers, either. This game could be less awful than it looks.
Colin’s pick: Arizona +6.5
Reidy’s pick: Seattle -6.5
Snyder’s pick: Seattle -6.5
Scott’s pick: Seattle -6.5
NY Jets VS New England (-4)
The 5-1 Patriots take a lickin’ but keep on tickin’. They must be the most banged-up division leader in the league. Just last week they lost the services of Amendola and Mayo, the latter for the season. They Pats are favored in New York on Sunday versus their division rivals, the Jets.
Colin’s pick: NY Jets +4
Reidy’s pick: New England -4
Snyder’s pick: New England -4
Scott’s pick: NY Jets +4
Jacksonville VS San Diego (-7.5)
Our third home dog of the week is the lowly Jags who proved to the Broncos that they have some kick in them. Regardless of that spirit, they’re bad. The Chargers are big favorites this week coming off an impressive won over the Colts.
Colin’s pick: San Diego -7.5
Reidy’s pick: San Diego -7.5
Snyder’s pick: San Diego -7.5
Scott’s pick: San Diego -7.5
Houston @ Kansas City (-6.5)
The Chiefs remain undefeated and will probably stay that way. The Texans visit Arrowhead stadium this week without their starting quarterback to confront a KC defense that could be the best in the NFL.
Colin’s pick: Kansas City -6.5
Reidy’s pick: Kansass City -6.5
Snyder’s pick: Kansas City -6.5
Scott’s pick: Kansas City -6.5
Cincinnati @ Detroit (-3)
Vegas sees the Bengals and Lions as equals. Thus the three-point line. It looks like Matt Stafford will have a healthy-ish Calvin Johnson for this clash. Will that be enough to hold off a Bengals team with designs on winning the AFC North?
Colin’s pick: Cincinnati +3
Reidy’s pick: Cincinnati +3
Snyder’s pick: Detroit -3
Scott’s pick: Detroit -3
Buffalo @ Miami (-8)
The Bills signed Matt Flynn to add depth at QB this week, but they will be starting Thad Lewis for the second straight week. Lewis impressed in week six, but the Bills still lost. He will be tested in Miami where defense is the order of the day.
Colin’s pick: Miami -8
Reidy’s pick: Miami -8
Snyder’s pick: Miami -8
Scott’s pick: Miami -8
Chicago @ Washington (-1)
Not many games on the week seven slate hold the intrigue that this one does. It’s a game that holds significance in the NFL playoff chase, featuring two near-elite QBs. There’s talk in Washington that Shanahan is ready to let RG3 run. Against Chicago’s defense that may be the ‘Skins only chance.
Colin’s pick: Washington -1
Reidy’s pick: Chicago +1
Snyder’s pick: Chicago +1
Scott’s pick: Chicago +1
Dallas @ Philadelphia (-2.5)
The NFC East is anyone’s division to win at this point, making this tilt a critical one. The Eagles will be without Michael Vick, who may not even be their starting Qb anymore. Nick Foles has been lighting it up. Can the Dallas secondary reel him in? With Romo match Foles throw for throw? Should be a Jim-Dandy.
Colin’s pick: Philadelphia -2.5
Reidy’s pick: Philadelphia -2.5
Snyder’s pick: Dallas +2.5
Scott’s pick: Philadelphia -2.5
St Louis @ Carolina (-6)
According to sources, this game will be played.
Colin’s pick: Carolina -6
Reidy’s pick: St Louis +6
Snyder’s pick: St Louis +6
Scott’s pick: St Louis +6
Tampa Bay @ Atlanta (-6)
Atlanta returns from their bye hoping to get a win. And by “get a win” I mean remain MRSA free. The Bucs are grody.
Colin’s pick: Atlanta -6
Reidy’s pick: Tampa Bay +6
Snyder’s pick: Atlanta -6
Scott’s pick: Tampa Bay +6
Tennessee VS San Francisco (-4)
The Titans have gotten by on defense since they lost Jake Locker. Somehow Ryan Fitzpatrick has managed to keep them afloat, but this week he faces SF’s defense which is no slouch either. The Titans are home dogs in this one.
Colin’s pick: Tennessee +4
Reidy’s pick: San Francisco -4
Snyder’s pick: San Francisco -4
Scott’s pick: San Francisco -4
Cleveland @ Green Bay (-10)
The Browns head onto Lambeau on Sunday with Brandon Weeden under center, one of many teams without it’s week-one QB. There’s little doubt that the Packers will emerge victorious, but can they cover the ten-point spread?
Colin’s pick: Cleveland +10
Reidy’s pick: Cleveland +10
Snyder’s pick: Green Bay -10
Scott’s pick: Cleveland +10
Baltimore @ Pittsburgh (-2)
This is a classic match-up between AFC North squads. The Steelers, who have been the biggest overall disappointment in pro football this season, host the rival Ravens in a game that, for Pittsburgh, is one of many must-wins they face moving forward.
Colin’s pick: Baltimore +2
Reidy’s pick: Pittsburgh -2
Snyder’s pick: Pittsburgh -2
Scott’s pick: Pittsburgh -2
Indianapolis VS Denver (-6.5)
No, Vegas has not adjusted this line in the wake of Jim Irsay’s comments.
Colin’s pick: Denver -6.5
Reidy’s pick: Denver -6.5
Snyder’s pick: Denver -6.5
Scott’s pick: Denver -6.5
Minnesota @ NY Giants (-3)
Josh Freeman gets his first start as a Viking on Monday night. He can’t possibly be much worse than Eli Manning, who is on pace for 40 interceptions this season.
Colin’s pick: NY Giants -3
Reidy’s pick: Minnesota +3
Snyder’s pick: Minnesota +3
Scott’s pick: Minnesota +3
