BLACKOUT! Crappy Chargers can’t sell out for MNF
Maybe San Diego would be better off with Joan Rivers than with Philip Rivers.
Despite a resurgent season for the Bolts’ QB, it appears that San Diego will suffer its first local TV blackout of the season when the Chargers host the Colts on Monday Night Football.
Over 10,000 tickets remain unsold for the game, meaning that under NFL rules it cannot be televised in SD. The league offered teams the opportunity to tarp off sections, basically redefining “sell outs” by reducing their seating. The Raiders took the league up on the deal, since most of their fans are too poor to attend games. But the Chargers didn’t take the deal. As a result they get to suffer the embarrassment of having their nationally-televised game blacked out in their home market.
