Your Colorado Avalanche are one game into their new season and are 1-0 after a 6-1 romp over the rival Mighty Ducks at Pepsi Center last night. Wednesday evening was filled with newness, anticipation, excitement, drama, celebration, flagrant irresponsibility childish ranting. In other words, it was ROY-SOME!
Patrick Roy is back, baby. Colorado’s new head coach and man-child thrilled Pepsi Center spectators and television viewers, celebrating his first NHL victory as a head coach by totally losing his shit over a dirty hit on rookie Nathan McKinnon. Roy transformed into the raving lunatic fans know and love and, with rings in ears, proceeded to hasten the demolition of Pepsi Center while chest-pounding and threatening Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau. It was ROY-SOME!
Avalanche fans can rest easy knowing that the youngsters on the squad are in capable hands. They are learning all the right lessons from the right guy. When you’re angry, when you feel that you’ve been wronged, when you sense injustice the right thing to do it to lose all semblance of self-control. It’s crucial to impart this kind of wisdom on a team early and often. Any coach will tell you that. It’s ROY-SOME!
Hopefully, folks kept their kids up just a little late to witness Roy’s lunacy after last nights game. Some lessons in life are best taught by our sports heroes. Anybody who saw Roy’s carrying on was given a master course in forgoing discipline last night. Parents should be so thankful. Hopefully, young ones across Colorado were allowed to break a couple of dishes last night before brushing their little teeth and cuddling up with blankie, because smashing stuff in ROY-SOME!
