I’ll go out on a limb and assume that you have no clue that the Denver Outlaws stand on the verge of becoming only the third team in the history of North American professional sports to finish a season without a loss. If this is the case, allow me to bring you up to speed on what has been a truly remarkable season for the summer tenants of Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
Since their founding in 2006 the Denver Outlaws have made it to the MLL’s Championship Weekend (final four) every year where they have advanced to the championship game four times. However, they have fallen short each time which has made unhappy flights home over the past seven years. It seems that the Outlaws and Championship Weekend do not get along.
This year looks to be different though. The Outlaws boast the league’s coach of the year in Jim Stagnitta combined with both the Goalie and Defenseman of Year in Jesse Schwartzman and Lee Zink, respectively. Not to mention the NLL’s Most Improved Player in Drew Snider. In addition, veteran Brandon Mundorf and faceoff wizard Anthony Kelly help balance out the Outlaws lethal and versatile attack. Yet, I would be remiss if I failed to mention the contributions of Chris Bocklet, Jeremy Sieverts, Eric Law and really, to be honest, the entire team. There isn’t a missing link in the Outlaws lineup as evidenced by an undefeated regular season. All that’s left to do now is bring the championship trophy back to Denver.
I would like to invite you to the Outlaws Watch Party at 11AM this Saturday at Punch Bowl Social (which is on the corner of 1st and Broadway) as myself and others will watch the Outlaws take on the Charlotte Hounds. After the Outlaws defeat the Hounds, I would like to invite to come back on Sunday at 1PM as we’ll watch the Outlaws take on the winner of the Cheesapeake/Hamilton semifinal.
Jump on the bandwagon, Denver. It’s not everyday that you get to witness history being made. Let’s watch our Denver Outlaws take care of some #UnfinishedBusiness this weekend!
