Von Miller’s likely replacement almost came to blows with Josh McDaniels in 2009.
It was the weekend of Thanksgiving, 2009 when the Broncos, on their way to an 8-8 season, got thumped by the San Diego Chargers 32-3 at home.
Coach Josh McDaniels famously dropped a nice loud F-bomb onto an open microphone during the game broadcast. NFL Network, who carried the game, aired McDaniels screaming “all we are trying to do is win a motherf***ing game” at the players on his bench.
McDaniels had been worked up since before kickoff. He almost got into it with a Chargers linebacker during game warm-ups. The player, according to McDaniels said “I will kick your (expletive) ass, too”. McDaniels, according to the player, said “We own you guys”. McDaniels behavior was unbecoming of an NFL head coach.
The linebacker who taunted him? None other than Shaun Phillips who will replace Von Miller for four games if Miller is suspended for drug use.
It’s a small motherf***ing world.
