Always with the drama: Mark Jackson bemoans Nuggets “hit men”
The wins the Golden State Warriors scored over the Nuggets in games 2, 3 and 4 of their Western Conference first-round series featured accurate shooting and physical play by Golden State. But, when the Nuggets won game five tonight by incorporating similar tactics, the Warriors’ head coach and top star were not pleased. I post-game comments both Mark Jackson and Steph Curry complained about George Karl sending “hit men” at Curry, looking to defeat his stroke with dirty tactics. Curry even said that some Nuggets players were apologetic, saying that they would not be a party to such behavior.
Fact is, the Warriors were posturing – setting the table for favorable officiating in game six. Still, after what we all saw unfold in the preceeding games, the comments sounded like sour grapes.
The Nuggets can tie the series and force a game seven at Pepsi Center by winning in Oakland on Thursday.
