Remember when people wanted the Nuggets to trade Neck Baby and Old Ass Andre?

Colin D. | April 22, 2013

In the Denver Nuggets round one, game one 97-95 victory over Golden State two players who might not have been Nuggets made significant impacts. Wilson Chandler played 39 minutes, snatched 13 rebounds and scored eleven points. The Nuggets were plus ten with Chandler on the floor. Andre Miller nailed the game winning shot and contributed 28 points in just over 27 minutes of play. Both Chandler and Miller expressed their desires to be traded prior to the NBA deadline.

Thank goodness they’re still here. With Danilo Gallinari sidelined for the post-season and Ty Lawson still recovering from an ouchy foot, both Chandler and Miller are critical pieces of Denver’s puzzle. It wasn’t very long ago, however, that many fans wanted to see both of them gone.

Denver fans get tired of hearing athletes gripe. Maybe we’re conditioned to have little patience for groaners because Carmelo Anthony cried his way out of town. The idea that our town, our market and our teams aren’t good enough for various players grows tiresome. Fact is, guys make noise about being traded pretty frequently. It’s easy for fans to take a “don’t let the door hit you in ass” mentality.

In this cases of Neck Baby and Old Ass Andre it’s a good thing that neither they nor the scorned fans got what they wanted. The Nuggets truly need both players now if they are to have a snowball’s chance in hell of proceeding beyond the second round of the playoffs.
