He’s been bounced around, but Chauncey Billups will always belong right here
When the LA Clippers come into Pepsi Center tonight they’ll bring a little piece of Denver with them.
Point Guard Chauncey Billups is once again healthy and contributing for the Clippers after having recovered from a torn Achille’s tendon that threatened to end his career.
Regardless of which team he plays for, Mr Big Shot will always belong to the fans of Denver. He’s one of our most beloved athletes and the fact that he’s at once a champion and a Denver native is something that we embrace.
That Chauncey was a toss-in to the trade that finally extricated Carmelo Anthony from Colorado is something that remains tough to live with. Even though he only played here for a sliver of his long career, he only ever looked right in a Nuggets jersey (or a Buffs one).
He will be given a hero’s welcome when we walks out on to the floor of Pepsi Center tonight. Rightfully so. Here’s hoping that once Chauncey Billups’ playing career is over, he will have a role with the Denver Nuggets again.
