The Broncos could use Freeney to strongarm Doom
Dwight Freeney recently told his old pal Peyton Manning that he would like to head for Denver, but that he wasn’t sure there was room for him here.
Well, there certainly could be room for Freeney if Elvis Dumervil were to be no longer a Bronco. And, with Freeney’s price tag being around $6M per year and Doom’s being nearly twice that, the situation gives the Broncos some leverage in requesting that Doom take a pay cut.
Vic Lombardi reports that Doom is willing to discuss a restructuring. That’s the good news. The bad news … for him, anyway … is that this time the Broncos do appear to have a “plan B”.
