The Rockies are for sale! Well, 7.3%, anyway.
The Denver Post is reporting that it’s looking to unload its 7.3% stake in the Colorado Rockies.
The Paper, which is part of MediaNewsGroup, which is part of Digital First Media, is moving on in order to focus on “content creation and advertising sales on multiple platforms”.
The statement issued by Digital First Media, as quoted by the post online, does not mention the sale being motivated by the outlook for the Rockies moving forward, but it’s tough not to wonder why, if the stake was once a good investment, it isn’t one anymore.
Of course, most people outside the Denver media were not aware that the Denver Post owned a piece of the Rockies to begin with. They do. It’s a testament that their affiliation with the team didn’t affect their coverage of it, however, that Mark Kiszla still works there.
