Denver Broncos cornerback Tony Carter is either one dumb son of a bitch or he’s got a very sick sense of humor. Because when he tweeted “At a late night movie in Denver yall pray for me”, he not only made light of the Aurora theater shootings, but hurt a lot of feelings and made a host of enemies along the way. What would possess a grown man, representing the Denver Broncos, to say something like this in here of all places?
We were all affected by this tragedy and to have someone casually toss off a joke about it is extremely insulting and very disappointing. I’m sure he’ll offer up the usual apologies outside of the one he already used: “No disrespect” But the damage is done. What Carter thought was humorous was not seen the same way by people in Colorado who had to live through it. If Carter wasn’t a member of this community by his association with the Broncos, we’d just write this off as poor taste. But now it seems heartless and wildly inappropriate. We hope he gets suspended for such a shitty thing to say, but he’s already going to have to live the life sentence of being a fucking dipshit.
