Our buddy, Snyder says “trade Matt Duchene”
Our buddy, Snyder, a regular on the Fancast, wished to share a quick thought with our readers about a particularly popular Avalanche player.
Is Matt Duchene just a little wuss or have Joe Sacco and his staff completely let the Avalanche down?
The true answer most likely lies somewhere in between.
I’m sure the Avalanche envisioned little Matty becoming another super Joe Sakic, but it’s not looking like that is going to happen. Matty and Joe are mentioned in the same sentence/conversation quite a bit. However, it’s more along the lines of “Matt Duchene couldn’t even carry Joe Sakic’s jock.”
Super Joe and little Matty are roughly the same physical size, but at this point no one would ever compare the size of their hearts or their intestinal fortitude. I know he’s only like 22 and he’s got time on his side, but you either have grit or you don’t…….little Matty does not.
I can’t believe I am agreeing with Mark Kizla on this, but trading Matt Duchene for winger is what is best for the Avalanche.
Let’s send little Matty, some cash and future draft picks off for a player like Rick Nash or Bobby Ryan.
The Kiz and I may be wrong – little Matty may very well develop into an NHL superstar. However, if…ifs and buts were candies and nuts, we’ve all have a merry Christmas.
It’s a heck of a lot of ifs and buts when it comes to little Matty Duchene and I’d rather put my backing behind someone who shows passion and grit. I’m not sure little Matty understands those terms.
