Memorial Day weekend could help the Rockies forget
With five games in four days the Rockies can put the recent past behind them this weekend.

The Colorado Rockies appear to have shaken off some rust.
The Purple and Black put together back-to-back wins this week for the first time in what seems like forever. As the Denver media railed on them relentlessly in the wake of Dick Monfort’s idiotic comments, the Rockies ignored the din, took to the field and took care of business – once against Miami – and once against the Reds (who had their ducks all in a row coming into the game).
This afternoon the Rockies will get the Reds again in Cincy. They face them tomorrow, too.
Then the Rox return home to Coors Field for a Memorial Day double-header with the Houston Astros.
It would be a tall order for Colorado to take down each of the next four games – but it’s not impossible. And, if they were to accomplish that, Memorial Day weekend could mark the moment that the Rockies pulled out of their funk and never looked back.
Their record stands at 17-27 this morning. By Monday night it could be 21-27, just six games below .500. The Rockies could take their winning streak from 2 to 6 games.
It would not be a full about-face for the Rockies, but it would be an enormous improvement. They would have stopped the bleeding and changed the dialogue around Denver.
I would love to see them do it.
How enjoyable would it be to hear the various radio jocks and newspaper columnists cover their tracks while suddenly praising a hot Rockies team?
