If Peyton Manning were going to sign with Tennessee he would have done it today. That’s how I feel, anyway. After the dog and pony show the Titans put on for him yesterday – along with the promise of a front office job – he might as well have not even left. He wasn’t sold, though.
His decision won’t be made today, either. And that’s a good thing.
Mike Klis, the mouthpiece of the Broncos at the Post tweeted earlier:
Broncos are still leaders in clubhouse for Manning.
I absolutely believe him. There have even been scattered rumors regarding Mrs. Manning communicating with a local Real Estate agent (Parker or Cherry Hills, that’s my guess).
Tennessee’s approach was too desperate. Manning spent two days in Colorado, watching film and playing catch in a park with Brandon Stokely. In Nashville he was subjected to much knob slobbing and given a physical. He’s coming. I had a very strong feeling about yesterday evening and none of what I have heard since has changed my mind.
Am I excited? You bet. Do I feel horrible about it? Yes. It’s a deal with the devil in a way. The Broncos will be staking all of their hopes on a Super Bowl within a couple of seasons as opposed to building for an eventual chance at one with Tim Tebow.
I would expect that we will hear that Manning has decided to join us here at a Mile High by tomorrow early afternoon. I doubt very seriously that we will know today. In the meanwhile, GO NUGGETS!
