During last night’s recording of the South Stands Denver Fancast I commented that working to maintain this blog was starting to change me as a fan.
I am constantly digging around the internet looking for angles. Most of the ones I find are negative. People who write about sports need to have something to say. They can’t just be cheerleaders so, more often than not, the things they say are critical. That’s just how it is. So, in researching stories for this site, I am ingesting negativity by the bottle full.
Compound all of that with the coverage of the Perrish Cox trial and all of the lurid and disgusting details that have emerged about the behavior of the Broncos players involved, I am suffering from a nasty sports hangover.
The stinkin’ Avalanche lost last night to the crappiest team in the entire NHL. They managed to flush their happy little hot streak right down the crapper.
So much shine has come of the recent accomplishments of the Denver Broncos that there are people yapping about the money they refuse to spend and whether or not they should get out from under Tim Tebow. Peter King from Sport Illustrated came on the radio yesterday and asserted that Denver wants to make a blockbuster trade with the Rams to get the second pick in the draft so they can take Robert Griffin the third.
The Nuggets won on Wednesday but they still have a long way to go before they can be taken seriously. The NBA trade deadline now looms and people are calling for Nene to get shipped out.
It’s all just too much.
Thank goodness for CSU Mens Basketball. They are the only unfettered local sports story right now. They have quality wins over ranked opponents, a fun and classy head coach in Tim Miles, a rockin’ arena and high hopes. They head down to C Springs to take on Air Force at 2 pm tomorrow.
Without my new found love for the Rams I don’t know what I would do. They’re like a cold bottle of sports Pedialite this morning.
