Kyle Quincey is skating backwards on comments he made after being traded out of Colorado.
Quincey fed a former Detroit Free Press beat writer, now employed by Yahoo Sports, a barrage of caustic quotes about his former team. Now he says they were taken “kind of out of context”.
Yeah, right.
It’s hard to misinterpret a sentence like: “I know I had a big smile on my face, and all the guys were jealous”.
Quincey implied that all of the Avalanche players want out.
If that’s not how they all truly feel they will have an opportunity to explain their positions tonight in Detroit. The Avalanche and Red Wings will face off at 5pm mountain time.
Assuming that Quincey did not, in fact speak, for the entire Avalanche team when he said those terrible things, justice might be metered out on the ice.
Yesterday, Quincey told the Detroit Free Press: “The last thing I want to do is get them upset at me”.
Tonight we will find out if they are.
Since trading Quincey on Tuesday, the Avlanche are 2-0 and have been lighting the lamp like they haven’t all season. It’s too soon to say whether the shake-up is to thank for the team’s recent success but a win in Detroit would indicate that it helped.
