According to the New York Daily News, the Knicks are closing in on a deal with former Nugget and Zhejiang Chouzhou Golden Bulls gaurd JR Smith who enters NBA free agency today.
Now JR can join the Linsanity.
Maybe his sister can sit next to Carmelo Anthony in the stands for the next few games while he waits to get healed up enough to go try snuffing out Jeremy Lin’s popularity.
There’s no question that, when JR is hot, he can shoot the lights out. The Nuggets certainly could have used a shooter last night. They’re not going after Smith, though, becuase he’s a crazy freak and they have had enough.
The Knicks, who have won seven straight games, will tire of him quickly, too. In fact, as nicely as things have been going there you have to wonder what in the heck New York is thinking.
Maybe they like the fact that he already has a Yankees logo tattooed across his Adam’s apple.
How Jeremy Lin will fit into the picture once Carmelo returns is already a question Mike D’antoni is yet to answer. Now he has to make Smith fit, too. Interestingly, had Carmelo never gotten injured, it might be Lin that the Knicks released to make room for JR.
Instead it may be Renaldo Balkman. Remember him?
