There’s really nothing left to be said about the Rockies

Colin D. | June 14, 2012

Jim Tracy can blab on and on and on but, for the rest of us, there’s really not much more to say.

My parents yelled at me all the time – yelled and lectured me. Their message never got through. I wasn’t a good kid. I didn’t learn too well from my mistakes and I never listened to reason. It wasn’t until my father said to me “I have nothing left to say to you” that I realized how impossible I was. He dropped that line, turned, walked away and muttered … “just do what you’re going to do. I give up.”

I know how Dad felt. I feel the same way about the Rockies. I’m not buying the excuses anymore. Jim Tracy can talk until he’s blue in the face about missed opportunities and not catching breaks. It all goes in one ear and out the other.

I was one of the last people on the Rockies bandwagon. I was sure they were going to turn things around. I even predicted a 12 game winning streak right here on this web site. I was close … they won seven out of eight as they wrapped up the month of May entering June.

Then the wheels fell completely off. They lost their eighth in a row today in a game not shown on television – which is just as well. They now have 16 fewer wins than the Dodgers and are almost terrible enough to fall behind the Padres – currently the second worst team (only to the Cubs) in all of baseball.

The funny thing is that the offense has been just fine. The Rockies have scored the second most runs in the majors. But their play in the field, their pitching, managing and management just suck, suck, suck. It’s a fucking embarrassment.

In their last eight games the Rockies have scored 31 runs while allowing precisely twice that many – 64 to their opponents, the Angels and the Athletics – neither of which are considered to be any good. The Athletics – who just swept the Rockies – have 29 wins on the season which is only five more than the Rockies have. They suck – but not as badly as Colorado does apparently.

There’s no hope left.

Even if the Rockies manage to win a game here and there – and they probably will – the road to 100 losses seems to be well paved. It’s the worst season in the history of the franchise. The year of the fan, my white ass.

So what’s a fan to do? Stop watching? Stop going? That won’t accomplish anything. We already know that enough people will come just to drink in Coors Field that the Monforts will still make their money.

If we want things to change we need to root AGAINST them. We need more failure … more 10-0 losses to shitty teams. We need the Rockies to suck on such a level that ownership has no choice but to fire the shit out of Dan O’Dowd, Jim Tracy and Bob Apodoca.

It’s time to blow the whole mess up. Forget trying to crawl up out of this hole. Dig in deeper, Rockies.

Fuck it.
