The next two series present big opportunities for the Rockies

Colin D. | June 1, 2012

It’s June.

That means that Springtime is all but over and Summer fast approaches. It’s time for the Colorado Rockies to kick it into high gear – and that is what they have been doing.

Colorado has taken down four games in a row. Unfortunately, those games were all won against a poor baseball team in the Houston Astros.

Beginning tonight, the Rockies host the N.L. West leading Dodgers for three games. Taking two of three from L.A. would be a huge boost to the Rockies chances of pulling themselves out of the hole they dug back in May.

It’s a new month – and a new opportunity to put the past behind them. The Rockies seem to be walking with a new bounce in their step. The offense has gone great guns recently and they the bats all seem to be getting hot (except Tulo’s – he’s hurt).

After the Dodgers series Colorado travels to Arizona for three games against the Diamond Backs who hold only a two-game lead against the Rox in the division.

By the time these next two series are over, Colorado could easily be in third place and breathing down the necks of the Giants. If the squad can move up into second place they can reenter the Wild Card fray – something that seemed inconceivable even a week ago.
