“One of the key factors in a successful fantasy football season is arguably your team name. There are varying strategies when it comes to choosing your team’s name for the season but one that should not be taken lightly. It could determine your fate as a team and lay the groundwork for the season ahead.”

Fantasy Football season is officially upon us and personally, I couldn’t be any more thrilled about it. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year for many reasons and football has more than a little to do with it. I have been trying to bide my time with fantasy baseball this season, which even though I am currently in second place in our South Stands league, just isn’t thoroughly scratching my fantasy sports itch.

Luckily for me and many others worldwide, relief is on the horizon. With most drafts a few weeks away, it’s time to get serious about the 2014-2015 fantasy football season. Whether you are one to participate in mock drafts, buy countless magazines or simply wing it, a strategy should be in place for draft day.

One of the key factors in a successful fantasy football season is arguably your team name. There are varying strategies when it comes to choosing your team’s name for the season but one that should not be taken lightly. It could determine your fate as a team and lay the groundwork for the season ahead.

As I always say, it’s similar to coming up with a Halloween costume. You don’t want to be scrambling the day before the party going to numerous thrift stores in search of the perfect costume when you could have put some thought into it and been prepared.

Similar to costumes, there is a fantasy football team name out there for everyone; you just have to find the right fit. Here’s a look at some good ones for the 2014 season that may strike your fancy and probably a few that may not. Either way, it’s an attempt to save you all some time and energy that you could be spending focusing on other areas of your game.  Your welcome.

Current Events

Insane Clowney Posse- An SSD and Juggalo favorite.

Michael Sam I Am – For the Sam fans and supporters. Obviously the name won’t exactly fly if he doesn’t make the squad.

It’s a Hard Knock Rice – Pretty self-explanatory.

Patriots Pistol Offense – I know, Aaron Hernandez jokes are so last year, but sadly it still applies.

Shaub-nado – A clever mash-up of the recent cult “movie” and everyone’s favorite punching bag quarterback.

I am Woman Hear me Thor – A nod to the new movie in the works with a female Thor.

Movies

In-GOREious Bastards – Gore is one of those guys who just keep on ticking when it comes to fantasy football

50 Yards of Shady – For the 50 Shades of Grey fans out there in fake football land. There may be a few of you.

Obi-Wan Jacoby – Star Wars penetrates all aspects of life and fantasy football is no different.

The Big Gronkowski – A perfect Bro name.

Romocop – Although the movie is a bit outdated, Tony Romo is still a factor in fantasy football. Or is he?

NSFW/Adult Humor

Tebow Baggers- While ol’ Timmy is no longer in the NFL, we can’t seem to get away from him.

Va Jay Jay Cutler – This name could appeal to some, I guess.

Schaub on my Knob – Once again, Matt Schaub is always a favorite when it comes to making fun.

She Lucks my Fleener – This is a bit of a stretch but Colts fans may find humor in it.

Washington Foreskins – Finally, a legit replacement name, or maybe not.

Bronco Specific

Manning of SteelA lovely combo of current events, movies and PFM.

The Full Montee– While I happened to have disliked the movie, Ball is the starting running back and deserves his own fantast football team name.

Call me Clady – Having Clady back is a huge plus for the team this season so show your spirit with this pop mash-up.

Rocky Manning High – Get it? Pot is legal and Manning is the quarterback.

Bowlen for the Lombardi – A nod to former Broncos owner who stepped down before the start of training camp. This one’s for Pat.

Hopefully this list has provided some decent ideas of either a name you are drawn to or even a direction to go in for the upcoming season.  Personally, I have been playing fantasy football for 18 years and the different handles that I have chosen throughout my journey are all over the place.

Feel free to add some more team names to this list in the comment section or tweet me @themondaymommy.   Good luck to all the fake football players in the upcoming season, unless of course you are up against my squad.
