Our week 9 NFL picks VS the spread
Colin has some catching up to do. He’s one game behind Reidy in picks vs. the spread so far this season. Both dudes are edging Vegas (vig excluded).

Chicago @ Buffalo (Toronto) +3
The Bills are sort of a Cinderella story this season. Despite being winless they have played teams tough. Heck, they took the Ravens and the Chiefs deep into overtime. This week they host the Bears, who are fresh off their bye, at the Bills home-away-from-home, Toronto Canada.

San Diego @ Houston +3
Philip Rivers is a dickwad. Aside from that, we don’t know much.

New Orleans @ Carolina +6.5
The Panthers are the second worst team in the NFL behind the Broncos right now. This week they face the returning Superbowl Champions at home. The Saints have not quite lived up to expectations in 2010 but they were able to mangle the Steelers on Halloween night. The New
Orleans defense must be licking its chops at the opportunity to face Carolina’s green QB Matt Moore.

Minnesota VS Arizona +8
The biggest NFL disaster this side of the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota, hosts the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. In the aftermath of the release of Randy Moss and with the Vikings reeling fans will be banking on a win at home. Brett Favre is bruised, battered and playing on a broken ankle. Chris Ivory remains the Vikes only healthy RB. In light of the circumstances, 8 point seems like a big number.

Atlanta VS Tampa Bay +8.5
The Falcons host the NFC’s self-proclaimed “best team”, the surprising Bucs, this week in what should be a very exciting match-up. The line does not reflect the fact that both teams enter this one 5-2.

NY Jets @ Detroit +4
The Lions are one of several emerging teams in the new NFL hierarchy. Along with the Bucs and the Rams, the Lions have opened people’s eyes. This week they play host to the Jets, one of the favorites to represent the AFC in the Superbowl. The Jets defense promises to challenge Detroit’s superstars including Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson who will be blanketed by Revis.

Baltimore VS Miami +5.5
The Ravens are a virtual lock for the playoffs while Miami appears to be a candidate for a wildcard spot at best. The Pats are simply running away with the AFC East. The ‘Fins could get some traction by snagging one in Baltimore VS the snarling Ravens D.

New England @ Cleveland +4.5
The Browns are one of those teams it’s tough to get a read on. It seems as though they have the firepower to beat any team in the NFL as they demonstrated in New Orleans. They are also capable of falling flat. This week they are home dogs VS the Pats who have willed themselves to a nearly perfect record on the season. Which Browns team will show up? It’s Bilicheck VS Mangini. Should be fun.

NY Giants @ Seattle +7
The Seahawks will be without their starting QB this week as Matt Hasselbeck recovers from a concussion. Charlie Whitehurst will line up under center and will be running for his life against a Giants defensive line that has made a living murdering QB’s all season long. Seattle is usually good to go at home yet they are 7 point dogs there this week. The number might be too low.

Kansas City @ Oakland +2.5
This, folks, is the game of the week. It will determine the early favorite to win the AFC Western division. The Raiders host the Chiefs yet they are 2 1/2 point underdogs. Strange considering Oakland has outscored its last 2 opponents 92-17.

Philadelphia VS Indianapolis +3
Mike Vick returns for the Eagles in time to host the streaking Colts in week 9. Should be a dog fight.

Green Bay VS Dallas +7.5
The fall of the Dallas Cowboys is the top story in the NFL in 2010. They suck hard. This week the crappy Cowgirls limp into Lambeau for a clash with one of the league’s stingiest defenses – the same one that shut out the Jets in NY.
